Shippping a SG for repairs Questions.
Have to ship a Remington 3200 to Laib's Gunsmithing for repairs.(Won't reset, fire occasionally)
I am going to get a hard case and break it in half to ship.
What is best way to ship? FedEX? Anything else I need to do?
I will insure it.
ThanksA Republic, if you can keep it.

Re: Shippping a SG for repairs Questions.
I was going to ship a shotgun to SKB for repairs. They instructed me to bubble wrap the crap out of the two halves and ship it using one of these:

(TAKEDOWN GUN SHIPPING BOXES aka BREAKDOWN GUN CARTONS)
I didn't feel comfortable shipping it in a case that clearly indicated it was a gun.
I don't recall which carrier they recommended.
Waiting on others advice.Last edited by Hawk; January 24th, 2012 at 02:45 PM.

Here's some shipping info:

You can ship the shotgun directly to the gunsmith. You can even use USPS to do the shipping (ands it's a lot cheaper than UPS or FedEX). If using USPS, ship it Priority Mail, Insured, Delivery Confirmation. I ship almost exclusively USPS and have never had any problems. Priority Mail will get most anywhere in the US in 2 to 3 days.
Box it up good (so that it doesn't shift inside the box). I would wrap it in brown paper, then bubble wrap, and put it in a box. You can buy gun boxes at a lot of places. Don't worry about the box, get one (or make one) that fits the two pieces. Include a copy of your drivers license, and exact discription of what is wrong, exact instructions on what you want done and a contact number in case the gunsmith needs to contact you if something odd happens.Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member
