Best 1911 for around $600
I would like to buy a 1911 for around 600 bucks. I don't want any .22's, just the .45's. Also, I would prefer American made ones. Thanks

Rock Island Armory, not made in the US, but it's a great gun at a great price... Your choice of GI or the Tactical model for well under $600...

Springfield's made in Brazil. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but if you want US manufacture in the $600 range, look for a Ruger SR1911.

Ruger SR1911 and Remington R1, both American made and can be had for $600 or less. The SR1911 is probably going to be hard to find now since demand is very high.
Sanity, yours if you can keep it.....

Re: Best 1911 for around $600
I see those pretty regularly at shows for $700. The $600 ones have "do not fire" tags on them.
Kicking aside, come up with three more Franklins and get a Colt, if you want a US 1911. It is for a NIB Colt, at that.
The PT 1911 is all the marbles for $600. The Asian 1911's have a good rep., but to do everything to one that the Taurus already gets done on the assembly line would put the Asians well over $600. Taurus is also huge, committed, isn't going anywhere anytime soon, and lifetime warranty to anyone who owns the gun, no matter how many times it is traded or sold.BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

Look into the STI spartan. That is the base model, but what it lacks in finish it makes up for in reliability and accuracy. I know a lot of competitive shooters that run an STI of some flavor, but the spartan is the most bang for the buck. I believe it's American except for the frame, but I may be mistaken.
