Re: CB Radio
Has the FCC changed the allowable power on CBs since the 70's... or are they still the same... I think like 5W allowable input power which was what... like 2.5 or 3 w output?
Of course, many folks ran linear amps on their rigs to jack up the power...DAMN SKIP TALKERS!

Picked up the cobra 29. Any recommendations on an antenna setup? I have heard that a dual setup wont work properly on a pickup. I do like the look.

Properly tunning the antenna(s) is the most important. The articles below will give you tips that may help you decide based on SWR readings. 2 can be used as long as the SWR readings are not going to fry the CB.

Are you going with a permanent hook up or a magnetic one? I have permanent on my work truck (Wilson Trucker 2000) but magnetic on my SUV. The reason for a magnetic is for places the antenna may break, like a parking garage or car wash. I have a Wilson "Little Wil" on my SUV.
Good Luck.

Re: CB Radio
Norm,
When I set mine up I had my own SW meter but there was a guy on 8th street in Wyoming in the building on the corner of 8th and Wyoming ave. He was on the 8th street side. I think the building is called the Cutten Bldg.

Norm, best antenna hands down is a 109"whip.
I wish I was around more...going through a really rough stretch with the little guy, but those radios can be tweaked and peaked in less time than it takes to get the case off...they may be antiques, but my bench has better toys than just about any truckstop shop (I cut my teeth on commercial, land mobile, and broadcast station..Radio and TV...)"...a REPUBLIC, if you can keep it."

Yeah i remembered that place after I started the thread. I took a ride over there last weekend. I did not see any sign of the shop as I rode past. Google says the is a guy in Kingston. I may try to find it this weekend.
There is a ton of info on the web. May even attempt it myself.troll Free. It's all in your mind.
