My CB can scan all 40 channels and whenever it stops on 9 what I hear is spanish speaking people.

I've occasionally taken material to the landfills in the Tullytown area, they all use CB. Tons of construction type trucks use CB, on different channels. So much easier than running around blind trying to figure the process and/or where to go. We use channel 5 in our business, unfortunately the over power jerkwads use 6 and it bleeds over a few channels in either direction. I work for a company but we also use owner operators, we can talk to each other via the CB whereas they couldn't talk on our company two way.

Like I said, CB isn't dead, just the part you see in movies isn't very alive, truckers channel 19, but if you move around to the other 39 you'll probably find a few conversations going on.

I belong to a few CB type forums and it's been said the FCC has given up, for the most part, trying to track down the overpowered guys. They simply don't have enough staff.

Places I go are not using sideband, not to say there aren't side band radios among us, having somewhat private conversations, but since the normal CB is the cheapest & most popular, it's what used for site work and material locations.

Some guys only have a CB because it makes work easier, they are not into it so much to need side band, probably don't know what it is. I have side band radios, I have 10-12 meter radios converted to also run 11 meters. Most guys I've worked with have ordinary Cobra 29 type radios.

The radio I am currently using in both my truck and Jeep is a 10 converted to use 11, no sideband but has FM in addition to the AM

Update I ditched the POS NGP antenna I got my SWR down to 1. Now I need to crank up my wattage so I can drawn out the jokers on channel 6.

I was on 10M (ham) band for a local net and heard the band was open. CB band (11M) is open right now all across the country.

...Once in a while when I turn on, the nitwit with the echo chamber coming from Texas or somewhere is blowing everything out. I don't know what is so difficult to triangulate on those guys and shut them down...
