Default Anyone have trouble with their Citadel/RIA Tactical?

After reading so many solid reviews, I purchased a new Citadel 1911. As always I give a new gun a thorough checkup before loading or shooting it, that's where all the problems began. At 1st if the trigger was pressed while the safety was on, as soon as you took the safety off the hammer would automatically drop and hit the pin. After a few more function tests it escalated to the trigger being able to be pulled while the safety was on. Then the hammer wouldn't stay cocked or at best half cocked. Mind you this is a new gun without a round through it yet. I would have been crazy to attempt to load it, so off to Armscor it went. They seem pretty good about service but I still have a few weeks to wait. Is there anything I should be wary of or ask for to make sure I get a reliable gun back? Anyone else have a similar problem? Thanks

Sounds like an issue with the hammer to sear fitting. Sometimes when hand fitting occurs the tollerances can be so close that a couple of runs of the file could have been too much. You'll want to learn how to do a detailed strip and clean (DSC) on the 1911 so you can see what's happening yourself in the future. I'm sure they will turn it around quickly for you.

My RIA Tactical was perfect, but only because I lubed it with bacon.

I tore it down a few times but didn't want to start replacing or altering parts and potentially void my warranty. Problems with the sear is what I was thinking as well. Thanks

First time I've heard of this type of issue with one. Arnel should have it fixed up better than new when you get it back. Only issue with mine is it's picky on large mouthed hollow points and the finish isn't all that great. I eventually plan on getting it cerakoted.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

I have a Citadel in .45 and a RIA in .38 Super. Both have over 1,000 rounds through and I have never had any trouble with them.

Bolded is my experience with my RIA tactical, too. Eats Winchester PDX1 230 gr with no fuss, though.

I have a two tone Sam (made by the same factory) and never had a problem like that sounds like a fitting problem between the sear and trigger I'd send it to a Gunsmith if you can't fix yourself. I never had to send my Filipino gun in so I don't know about there customer service dept.
My Sam 1911 has been doing fine after finding which JHP it liked, which are 230 jhp with fmj profile.

Citadeal usually have good reputations except some not firing jhps out of the box. Fairly common for guns priced this cheap.
