Well in a different forum I have heard Ruger has had issue with the frame and proper cuts etc..

The gun itself I have heard good things about.

I really wanted this gun towards the end of the year, but it look slike I may have to go with a Springfield TRP for the extra money.

No way in hell am I going with anything Taurus.

It's like that with most Ruger models these days. I have been waiting months for a double action 44 mag in 4 inch and a few more months for the 1911.

I guess they don't want to add staff or increase production. Ruger actually told me they were going to start limiting the production of their large caliber DA revolvers, probably to make room for their pistols. I told them if they limit it any more they may as well discontinue them.

S&W and Springfield are starting to look better and better for my needs.

They're probably waiting for the outcome of the November elections. If we retain the current administration there may be no need for gun production.

456 - Let's stick to what we know every darn thing is not the Presidents fault, no matter who he is.

Ruger has back logged its sale of its popular 1911 to garanteed a better product with new machines and fine tuning. I have one and it can't get any better then this for the money. If so I want to see it and I might buy another one, probably not the economy is still weak. But we can help by buying more things built and made in the USA, other countries do that all the time.

    I'm interested in SR1911.

But I would wait until they release railed version. I would imaine that they'll come out with it sooner or later...
Railed/checkered front strap for under $900 would be nice...

456 - A SS or blued railed, checkered front and back scrap, with night sights for under $800 would be great. I'd have to have another.

I would be thrilled if they would make some of the guns that are already staples of their product line. If I am going to wait for something that is not even in their line yet I may be too old to pull the trigger before it hits the streets.

A guy from the ruger subforum on 1911forum.com was complaining of poor sr1911 frame craftmenship and ruger customer service. I don't know anything about their CS but I do know that I'm not surprised about the frame as they are cast frames not forged like colt, kimber and all the other American quality manufacturers. This is also the reason ruger can sell an American made 1911 at such a price. It surprises me that they would "cut corners" by casting a 1911 frame because I do consider ruger a quality American company. That being said, everything else I've heard from SR1911 owners has been positive.

Ruger investment castings are the best in the business. Their subsidiary, Pine Tree, has been casting since the 1960s.

Good for them. I'll take a forged frame over a cast one everyday. I'm sure they are fine pistols but given the choice, I'll spend (have spent) a little more and get a Colt.
