Oh i totally agree. Im gonna pay alot more. But I want a good 1911...and often times my judgement is clouded by desire. Either way I am gonna get a quality pistol.

I have one the worst thing about this pistol is you have to be put on a waiting list. As for quailty of 1911 for the money its one of the best in its field. It is a solid ss pistol with all the amenities that you would need. Its made with fine parts and put together well. It build quailty rivals Kimber, Colt and SF that are in the same price range. It's built right here in the USA and really is a fine example of American know how. The trigger breaks clean around 4.5lbs and the sights are excellent. Unless you pay a lot more it would be hard to buy a better 1911 then the Ruger, IMHO.

It's pretty accurate and looks good.

This pistol is about the same price as the Ruger.

BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

I've had mine since September. I paid too much--701--for mine, but love it and would have gone to 800 without hesitation. Now that I've owned it for a while and put about 500rds throught it, I'm more convinced than ever that it's the perfect 1911, at least for my purposes--competition and home defense. I ordered more Ruger 8rd mags--love the look, fit and finishi of these, and it's a permanent part of my arsenal. I recommend the gun highly, even over the more expensive 1911s and the comparables.

Thats another bad thing about the Ruger SR1911 is the demand for it can drive the price up. I know some people have paid $525 for there SR1911 I paid $625 and you paid $700. And would have paid $800 I think I paid too much not that the gun is not worth $600+ it is, but I'd rather pay $525 like some of the others that got lucky. I paid $800+ for my S&W 1911 E series and think that was a good deal. I'd rate the E seies a step above the SR1911 because the E seies is suppose to be semi custom and it is. The SR1911 is just a good SS 1911 with almost all the now standard bells and whistles, made with good parts and material here in the USA. It highlight are a good trigger, excellent sights and build quialityl.

Yeah, well I ended up getting a Springfield Champion at the Lebanon gun show this weekend. I traded in my LCP with CT laser, I got $250 for it and got the Champion for alittle over $600. I havent shot it yet, but it is a sexy looking gun, just hope it performs as well as it looks.

Congrats on the new Springfield !!
I will probably go a similar route. Been waiting on the SR1911 for awhile myself.

Would like to hear a range report on it once you run some ammo through it.

I will probably go this weekend depending on the weather. I do like the Ruger's, but this one was just calling out to me when I saw it. The picture doesnt do it justice, the OD green frame and the black slide just looks awesome....its the lightweight model, I think I made the right choice.

456 -I knew an assoicate that had a SS Champion it was a pretty gun but had problems firing jhp bullets and had a 7lb trigger pull. That he had to work down other then that it was a good 1911 when shooting ball ammo. That was 15 years ago maybe because of competition the factory trigger has gotten better.

The SR1911 will shoot jhp right out of the box, but the usually break in is recommended and it has a 4lb trigger pull.

The trigger does feel a bit stiff when dry firing....I may just have to break it in or get a trigger job done on it. But I havent even fired it yet, so I am putting the cart before the horse here. I will try it out and see how it handles different ammo's. There are alot worse things you can be doing besides breaking in a new gun. I will let you know how it does. Thanks for the insights.
