Default Taurus 85 Protector Poly Range Report

One word for this one - "Sweet" ! This is an awesome pistol ( epecially after disappointment with my new Charter Arms ).
Ran 50+ round of 38 special +P and regular 38 special and not one hic-up! Incredibly accurate, I practically thought where the round should go and that's where it landed ! A blast to shoot, a bit snappy, but not too bad. Great weight, great feel, all around very happy. If I had to give a negative, it would probably be the cylinder release - pretty cheap and seemed to hang up a little - but then again I have a bandaid on my right thumb from cracked skin so that could have been the problem.
I am starting to get some confidence back in Taurus, revolvers anyway!
I would highly recommend this revolver, and with stainless steel cylinder for $302 - can't go wrong ! Get one

It does look pretty interesting, and if I was in the market for a revolver I'd definitetly be looking at one.

How's the weight compared to a traditional, steel revolver? And how much does the recoil differ?

Surprisingly, it's listed as 18.2 oz - despite feeling much lighter - lol. Compared to S&W airweights at 15 oz or so, and Ruger LCR at 13.5 or so it's actually heavy !
Recoil imo is comparable to my Bodyguard 38 or Old School S&W 12-2 snub.

Well those Airweights are made of some scandium alloy, aren't they? Didn't realize they were lighter than polymer... unless the cylinder is scandium as well compared to the stainless steel cylinder in the Protector.

Wonder if any other manufacturers are gonna follow suit and offer their own version (like S&W releasing the Governor). Given the price, it's a very intriguing firearm. Unfortunately I've got other guns higher up on my "get asap" list.
