Default Charter Arms Pitbull 40 Range Report

Two words - "Going Back" ! Very disappointed. I was so excited about this revolver. 40 calibler revolver, no moon clips, etc., and my first Charter Arms Purchase - but not a good experience. Here's the problems :

    1. Light strikes. Anywhere from 1 to 3 round every 5 would not fire. When
looking at the round, they are clearly light strikes. Tried 3 different
types of ammo to be sure it was not that, and all types had the same
    results.

    2. Ejector would not eject spent rounds 2 out of 3 times. It would just
"freeze" and had to gently "bang" on the end of the ejector rod to get
the rounds to eject. Then even after that, 1 or 2 would hang up and
would have to be pushed out with a cleaning rod.

    2. 1 or 2 times while shooting in double action, the cylinder would freeze
up. 1 or 2 times when cocking hammer to shoot in single action, the
    cylinder would freeze up.

So I called Charter Arms today, and a lady speaking somewhat broken english answered and said no one was available to assist today, everyone's at a gunshow in North Carolina, could I call back Monday! So I emailed the Customer Service Manger, who appears to be wife of President - so we will see how their customer service and warranty stacks up. I'm hoping they pay the shipping and if they can not guarantee 100% fix, replace. The lady on the phone said they would ?????

I'll keep you posted, but very disappointed

Hopefully they make everything right for you. After seeing your pictures of it it got my interest but hearing this will definitely make me reconsider.

Got it back today ! They said they replaced the cylinder, ejector and firing pin. Not sure if they found them to be defective like I said, or if they just replaced them because I said they were bad ? They said they test fired and all is good. To the range Wednesday to see !!!!

Interested to see what happens. I found the design to be quite interesting. Sucks you got a POS the first time around. Hope you make out OK with the fixed one.

I really like the feel of the gun, just bummed I got a dud out of the box - I know it can happen, hopefully no issues tomorrow when I hit the range. The only other complaint I have is how much of I pain it is loading. The way the cylinder is made to accept 40 rimless w/o moonclips, there is that extra 'tab' which makes it impossible to just drop in rounds. You have to kinda angle them in which makes fast reloads tough! How have you found loading to be ?

i didnt like it at first either but reloading gets easier, mine still dosent just drop in but the will go straight in with a slight push.

What is the advantage of this gun over the .44 spec bulldog? Also, that is their reasoning for not using moon clips, it has worked reasonably well since 1917?
