    Default Groper in Lower Merion

    http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/...137026223.html

The first attempt didn't deserve to be shot (maybe just warned)...

Did the second attempt deserve a gunshot at all, by the victim?

    Huh?????????

Are you asking for opinions on whether a "groper" should be shot/should be allowed to be shot by the "gropee"?

    I don't follow

I'm just saying...the groper didn't have a weapon. The first instance, he just pinched a butt. So...not really worthy of being shot.

But the second one, he actually pulled the girl down. Worthy of being shot, if the victim is armed?

    Shot? Nah.
Should he become the recipient of a serious ass-whippin'? You bet.

    Not going there.

But to try to answer the ops question.

Your attacker does not need to be armed to do you grievous harm.

Well, it sort of depends on who you ask.

QFT. They don't even have to "touch" you. How can you be sure the Lower Merion Groper isn't testing the waters before he becomes the Lower Merion Rapist?

Well, during my tenure as a police officer, there weren't to many rapes I responded too or investigated where the victim was raped standing up.

I don't think it would be on a woman's/victim's mind as she is forcibly put to the ground that the man doing it is only doing so to grope. How are you the victim to guess at the man's intent? I would call the second one an attempted rape more than a grope and let the DA/Courts figure it out.

I believe the second women could have used deadly force without a doubt. The frist incident, based on the news reports, not so much.

Agreed. First one should have been kicked in the jimmy, second one could make a valid case (if I were on the jury) for using lethal force. There are many ways to hurt and kill people without using a weapon. As soon as someone uses force to exert their will over you, all bets are off on what they're going to do. The best bet is to not let it get that far.
