    Default gun safe hunting

This seemed the logical place to put this

I am currently in the market for a gun safe, but I have absolutely no idea where to start. There are to many options, features, and dodads. The electric ones scare me, I don't want to be locked out of my collection in the likely event of a power outage.

Please share any/all experiences and recommendations are greatly apprecieated

Depends on what your looking for? I had a BIG safe a few years ago and after I moved I swore to never have one big sage again.

Believe it or not I got a "executive" safe (14 LG) at Lowes, I paid like $350 on sale and Cabelas was almost $200.00 more for the same safe. I have filled and it and am about to buy another. I don't need a fancy pants paint job so it is great for me.

I have a 36 gun safe. Old style wheel unlock handle dealie with keypad access. Runs on two double AA's. In the event the batteries fail, two keys were provided so the safe could be unlocked that way. Don't lock the keys in the safe!!! Some retards do that, go figure.

Can't remember the name but I love it.

I'm not looking for some 30 ton nuke proof safe, I only need it to hold 10-15 long guns, a couple of hanguns and some sensative paperwork.

I bet the people that lock the keys in they're safe are the sort to lock they're keys in the car (done it more than I'm willing to admit)

I have a keypad on mine and if the batteries die you just pop the keypad off and put a new battery in. No need for keys.

If you need to store 15 rifles, better buy a 24 gun safe. A 24 gun safe will hold 24 single barrel shotguns.
