Yup, had a lot of fun. That steel at 200 was a cool touch. Having never shot past 100, it was interesting. Of course I didnt get any hits during the match and, that really killed my score.

    I'll be back.

Ben, no worries man. I had real trouble with the 200 yard steel the first time too. After a little practice and a proper 200 yard zero, I did much better. See you at Oley.

You should zero for your average shot distance and then learn your holdover/under for other distances. The only firearms I have zeroed at 200 are my precision firearms (anything that I plan on shooting out to 600+). If my AR has a light magnification (i.e. ACOG, 1-4, etc.) then I generally zero for 100. My red dot sights are zeroed for 100 as well except for one that is a backup to an ACOG. That one is zeroed for 50. All of my BUIS are zeroed for 100 too.

The biggest thing is practice. If you're a member at LRGC then zero your rifle at whatever distance you want, but then go shoot it (off of the bench) at the other distances as well. The club has 10, 25, 50, 100, and 200 yard ranges, take advantage of that.

Even if you don't plan on doing any shooting past 200 yards I would recommend getting a ballistics app for your phone/computer/etc. Even putting in rough data it will tell you approximately how much you will have to correct when placing shots at other distances. For Android powered phones I'd recommend the Shooter app (there is a free version).

All of this is just my opinion and it's worth as much as you paid for it.
