Default Help Beretta 92a1 trigger issue

So I am taking my 92a1 to range tomorrow for the first time. I was just taking it apart and cleaning it. The hammer was cocked and I pulled the trigger while I had it apart. Probably a bad move!

When I put it back together everything seemed great until I cocked it. I noticed there is a lot of play in the trigger now when the hammer is cocked and in SA. I remember it being firm before this happened.

Did I mess this thing up? Is there anyway to adjust this?

Thanks for the help and dealing with the new guy!

Does the hammer eventually fall with the long pull? If not, I wonder if you forgot to install the trigger bar spring, or it slipped out of the slot on the underside of the trigger bar... It's P/N 28 here:

If this spring is missing or not installed correctly, the trigger bar can't connect with the sear to push the sear forward, allowing the hammer to fall.

Maybe too what seems abnormal to you now is normal; even in SA, the 9x series guns have a pretty good amount of take-up till they trip the sear. Maybe next time you have her apart you might add a "D" main spring to improve the DA pull especially (lighter), and some improvement to the SA as well. Doing an action job yourself is easy, and my Beretta has a very sweet trigger by virtue of this "D" spring and action job I did. This fella has made a very nice set of videos concerning the 9x series pistols, and I bet you will find them helpful:

    Good luck!

Yep, the hammer does fall wih a full pull. I just Rember there being no give in SA. Now it feels like almost a centimeter give until the hammer falls when firing in SA

That doesn't sound right. Mine has no slack at all in SA. Did you just buy it new? If so, take it back to the shop you bought it from and have them take a look.

I can't say if mine is 10mm/1cm movement from start to break in SA, but there is definitely (normal) slack, and no Beretta 92 with DA/SA I have seen/sold/examined ever had no slack in SA prior to sear trip. Maybe it just seems wrong after reassembly, even if it's right.

It definitely doesn't feel right. I bought it a few months ago from cabelas. Been waiting to shoot it. Just never had time. I have a feeling I'll have to send it out.

I don't ever recall there being slack in any of the 92's I've been issued for duty, or the 92 I personally owned.

I use a 1911 mainspring in my 92. Lighter pull and reliable.
