    Default Form 4 Question

I am thining about now possibly purchasing a SBR from a local FFL. My question is, since this is already a SBR with the tax stamp, do I need to submit a Form 4 with another $200 for the tax stamp if the rifle in question already has been issued a stamp?

If that is the case, why would I pay the extra amount the seller is asking when I could simply apply for a stamp and build the exact same SBR that he is selling for less.

I hope this makes sense - I was just looking on GB and saw a PA dealer that is selling alot of SBR stuff

Yes, you must pay the 200$ tax. If the dealer has these in stock on F3's he ordered them tax free, and has to form 4 them to you. Yes you can build your own, but you have to get them engraved and form1 them to ATF. With the dealer you dont have to engrave them since they came from the factory as SBR's.

OK, so what happens when I would want to sell my engraved SBR? Does the buyer now have to have it engraved as well as striking out my engraving?

    Thanks

Why would u sell it? After all the time, hoop jumping and money that you have into it, it will alway be a loosing proposition. I will take my shit, demilled, to the grave with me.

I guess that was more of a hypothetical question.

On the other hand, I tend to keep my guns for a few years and trade them when I get bored with them.

If its an AR then most people just sell the upper and always keep the sbr'd lower! Once you have a lower you can put any upper on it without needing another stamp.

Original engraving stays. It's supposed to be engraved with the maker, not the owner.

Which is why a SBR from a dealer is sometimes more desired. Who wants to buy a gun with harry potter engraved on it, and if checked by the local fuzz how are you going to explaine harrys named gun when your name is bubba, and in your possesion.

I wish more places carried SBRs. If you need engraving on an AR usually engravers want to only do it to a stripped lower, which means you are building at least the lower. Plus like others said then your name or trust is on it for eternity.
