    Default Open Carry Holster Recommendations

I've done a ton of research into the right holsters for concealed carry, but have seen a lot of conflicting posts on OC holsters. I've seen a lot of opinions about SERPA holsters, but wonder which ones you would recommend. I'm looking specifically for a Ruger SR9C holster. Thanks in advance.

From my Police Officer days, if it doesn't say SAFARILAND as the manufacturer, I don't think it meets the standards for an open carry holster.

    070, 0701, or ALS models.

Safariland are quality holsters of make and function. My quarrel with them is how low riding they tend to be. If you are seeking something along those lines they are worth the investment, higher riding belt bolsters has can be had for much less generally. Check out the desantis speed scabbard or galco 3 slot. Also, do you want a thumb break or additional retention? I like a thumb break on pistols without a thumb safety - everyone is different but best to know before investing in leather, it can be pricey. Avoid fobus if you value the finish on your pistol. :-D

I use a Safariland ALS but I carry a 1911 and liked that all the action when drawing and removing the safety was done with the thumb as it seems to be one fluid motion. I didn't want a holster with a release that used my index finger while needing my thumb to disengage the safety. It seemed like it would be less chance of an ND if I was moving as few fingers as possible.

So anywho, depending on how you carry the SR9c (cocked and locked-which I recommend) think about what fingers you will use when disengaging a safety while removing your firearm from the holster.

Serpa for all my carry needs other then when ankle carrying. Have actually real life experience of someone trying to disarm me and they (police) couldn't get my glock out of the holster lol.

I used to think this way too, then I came across this:

Might want to check it out.
From what I've found, as a result of several "accidents" a number of instructional ranges have banned the use of the SERPA.

That was a very interesting video, thanks for sharing that.

While watching it, a few things occurred to me. When I first bought my initial Serpa, I found it odd that the trigger guard release wasn't in quite the right position - it did seem to come up a bit short. I don't know if I naturally started doing it subconsiously, but I have always released the latch using the pad of my finger, keeping it straight and against the barrel, since it's just sensitive enough to let go that way.
