These current PGCA shows at the PGH Mills Mall; in terms of the variety and vendor turn-out:

how well do these shows compare with the Monroeville CE Show at the old Wickes Furniture warehouse next to the Expo Mart, or with the Wash Cty Show at the 3 fairgrounds bldgs?

For $7.00 admission and no dollar-off coupon...

    Thanks!

I'd rank it #2 out of the 3 shows, with Washington being #1. The only reason to go to the Monroeville show is if you live near by and don't have anything better to do.

PGCA will have NO junk like jewelery or gutter shield vendors like you find at the C&E show in Monroeville.

PGCA is not as large as the Washington Co Fairgrounds show, but many of the same faces at Wash Co. will be set up at PGCA and vice-versa.

PGCA will tend to have many dealers with slow-moving inventory; you'll see the same guns or accessories show after show.

    My personal rating:

    1) Wash Co. - Pretty decent mix of vendors, would generally attend if the weather cooperates. I didn't feel like making the drive this past weekend.

    2) PGCA - I'll may attend if I'm in the area, but I won't make a special trip just for it. Too much "same show, different date." I attended the last PGCA show, and have better things to do this coming weekend. Probably wait until much later in the year to attend again.

    3) C&E - fuggedaboudit; unless you like to waste your money on cheap Chinese knives it's a flea market and would be time out of your life you'll never get back. I will NEVER attend again.

With the exception of a few dealers who attend Wash Co. and PGCA shows and have competitively priced merchandise, I usually do better at local and semi-local gun shops. But my "short list" of wanted guns is about 1 gun long anymore, and I don't have a "long list." The collection is about where I want it, and I don't clean out estates like I used to; I don't need much, and I don't have much to sell. Thus, not much need to attend shows. Finally, I get tired of hearing vendors particularly at the PGCA show complaining about low sales. The dealers I know with competitively-priced merchandise do well, and they don't complain. Those expecting a big payday from an uninformed buyer spending $$$$$ on overpriced merch are the ones doing the whining.

I'm planning on attending tomorrow with my girlfriend. Is concealed carry permitted at this show?

Nope. IIRC, you'll be asked to unload and they will zip tie the action.

Theoreticly carry guns will be asked to be tied. That is if they know you are carrying. If it's concealed, who's going to know? Just do yourself and the rest of the people in the show a big favor and KEEP it concealed and in the holster. That being said, if you do that and there is an AD, it's your rear on the line.

I got there late due to the snow and having to do a bunch of shoveling.Had lots of room to walk around and saw a few deals.I got the chance to talk to a lot of old friends then went to lunch with my buddy. All in all we had a great day.YMMV.tom.
