    Question Citizens Arrest

Someone just told me a story about how he made a citizens arrest. Given he is a liar and I don't believe him......I could not help to wonder what are PAs laws pertaining to citizen arrests? Does anyone know or have any stories of you ever having to do this?

Its not really called a "citizens arrest" in PA, but a person can arrest someone when they witness a crime being committed, or have reason to believe a crime was committed.

Its supported by common law(Posse Comitatus, Hue & Cry), Constitutional protections(duty of the militia), and recent case law(Kopko v Miller, Commonwealth v Corley). Also there are sections of current statutes that support a private arrest by providing justification by private persons in the use of force while making an arrest(under given limits).

This has already been discussed, closing.

Please try to use the search feature if possible (I realize sometimes it is not that great though.)
