Colt 1911-22

I recently purchased the new Colt 1911-22 for my grandson. I was impressed that the operation on the pistol is similar to the 1911. It also feels very solid and "right" when held. After putting 200 rounds through the gun he has had a couple of stove pipe "FtE". Ammo was Remington bulk pack. Overall I am impressed with this new offering. Anyone else have experience with it?

You may want to try a hotter ammo until it gets broken in. Also, the slide needs to be clean and lubed, correctly. If it does not come back far enough due to it being dirty, old nasty packing grease, or too soft of ammo, it will not eject the cartridge all the way.

I would never make my kids eat cheap cold cuts so that I could buy the good stuff for me, but I did give my son all of my Federal bulk .22 rds. CCI cured everything that ailed my 10/22. It is the only .22 ammo in my stock pile, now. I can tell you that the CCI is hotter because it consistantly shoots about 1.5" higher at 50 yds. than does the bulk pack stuff out of my 10/22. Happy shooting!

I have a Colt MK IV series 70 that my dad gave me. It came with a .22 conversion kit. Just take the .45 slide assembly off and put the .22 one on. Not exactly what you have but pretty damn close. Tons of fun too

I have a Chiappa 1911-22. Not the same as yours, but after shooting for a while, and the gun gets dirty, I do get fte/stove-pipes. Clean and lube usually cures. bad mags can also cause similar problems(double feeds, one laying in chamber area, one sticking up). If you've got cheap plastic mags, look for cracked lips and replace if necessary.
