Re: Eating raccoon
LOL'ing at the people being squeamish at eating tree rats or coons. NOT that Im in a hurry to order either one for dinner, but cooked right I'd give it a try at least. I've had gator bites and rattlesnake burgers so.....................

Re: Eating raccoon
When I was growing up I ate a LOT of venison, rabbit, squirrel and woodchuck, but never raccoon. (At least not that I remember). Spaghetti and woodchuck was one of my favorites. I'd guess that if it's properly done it would be as good as any other small wild critter. I've heard of people eating porcupine, I sure as hell wouldn't want to skin one though.
I don't have a short temper, I just have a quick reaction to bullshit.

Re: Eating raccoon
I never ate a raccoon but have used alot of coon grease on my boots and anything leather. My grandfather was always rendering coon fat. Ad a bit of pine tar to preserve the grease if you don't use it right away. This grease makes leather water resistant and softer. It has an odor all it's own when you render the fat. Make sure your wife is out of the house when you do it.
