    Default "new"Trops a bit shady

For those who don't know Trop's Gun Shop in Elizabethtown PA is under new ownership. That at first glance would seem to be a good thing.....however prices as well as customer service has declined. But even more disturbing is the " fake" no reserve auctions they run on Gunbroker. Yes they shill their own auctions and then immediately re list them as reserve auctions..after giving their shill an A+ rating. In the past the store had a crusty staff now the new look is a mix of the old and the addition of some full on "Rambo" types....( full on Bat belt...tactical pants and in one case a Rambo knife in a small of the back carry. Few if any deals can be found with the exception of ammo. With the on line situation....buyer beware.

I'm assuming that shilling on Gunbroker is against the rules, like most auction sites. If this is true, have you reported them to the staff so that the shilling can be investigated?
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

While I can see the possibility of what you said in their past gunbroker auctions, how do you know for a fact that that is what happened? If there was proof, you could get their gunbroker account pulled. If there isn't proof, it's a serious accusation to make based on a hunch, right?

The declining prices thing is really shady

Actually Gunbroker has been notified, the "buyer" has only 12 auctions all to Trops all result in A+ ratings from Trop despite the fact the same item is re listed as a reserve auction immediately, This happened at least 4 times based on information supplied from the site itself, all were new high priced items that would have been sold far below cost...the re listed " reserve" auctions had opening bids started far above the supposed winning bid.....it not that hard to figure out.

I have been a customer at Trop for several years and I have been to their shop more often since the new owners have taken over than ever before. I have found their pricing on many new guns, several used guns, ammo and some accessories to be priced quite well. I, for one, like the new shop and have found much of the new staff to be helpful and knowledgeable without being the typical "know it all's" found in many of today's gun shops.

I don't know about their gunbroker listings or what may or may not be going on there.....but i am sure that if shenanigans is going on, it will be found out.

I don't browse thru Gunbroker that often, only use it when I'm trying find a price for something I'm interested in buying/selling. So won't comment on that aspect, but I have visited the shop recently and I was impressed. The staff was very friendly and helpful, answered all questions in a friendly manner that my buddy and I asked. Didn't really check the prices on their new merchandise but I did check out their used gun rack and I found their prices fair. I've even been considering going back for something they have.

This is my 2 cents worth.
