I am not a religious person, however I found this interesting!

St. Gabriel Possenti was a Catholic seminarian whose marksmanship and proficiency with handguns single-handedly saved the village of Isola, Italy from a band of 20 terrorists in 1860. Click for Full Story!

The poor lizard was the victim in the story. I would have been more pleased if the rapist took the bullet instead. Maybe the lizard heard the commotion and was running in to help. Maybe to bite someone on the toe or wriggle up their pants or try to sell them insurance.
I had heard that the Vatican was contemplating making Gabriel Possenti Patron Saint of cute little reptiles. That is until that incident happened.

Your empathy for the poor innocent Lizard is well placed. However, Possenti only having two six shooters and facing 20 armed renegade soldiers may have made the right choice. After all, his main interest was in saving the village from death, rape and destruction.

The Lizard, dying a martyr found a warm spot in heaven if not, the cold blooded reptile is certainly warm in hell!

I would be surprised if the Vatican designated a saint for the benefit of gun owners. The Catholic Encyclopedia entry makes no mention of this story

If you get the tattoo, I'll paint an effigy of a weeping St. Gabriel Possenti on the hood of my car!! It will go well with the low-profile gold rims, the hydraulic-suspension and leopard-skin upholstery.
