    Default M&P Slide Reassemble 100%

Barrel and recoil spring are in the slide. Sear is in the downward position, take down lever is also in the downward position. I get about 90% of the slide on when it hangs up. This is only my second time taking apart my M&P, and the first time I'm having the issue.

    Any ideas?

Edit: the plunger would not depress had to remove rear sight and reinstall spring, all set.

Is it completely locked up or are you able to remove the slide?

I can take the slide right back off. I've probably tried it about 30-40 times now, lol.

And you're absolutely sure the take down lever isn't moving when you are putting the slide on? They have an annoying habit of shifting up when you slide the slide back on. I always hold the lever with my thumb when reassembling.

I've read that. And I have tried holding it as well, the lever is staying in the downward position.

I have had that happen. I don't remember how I've fixed it except to jostle the slide back and forth. Did you pull the trigger (obviously after making sure it's clear)? Try that. Also, is the rear of the slide getting to the rear rails or is it getting hung up before that? I'm pretty sure I've applied downward pressure while putting the slide back on that kept the rear of the slide from getting on the rear rails.

I have tried to pull the trigger (making sure its unloaded). I'm using a good amount of force, tried jousting it, nothing seems to be workin.

I know with mine, I do get some resistance when putting the slide back on. Like something wants to stop it... but with a little force it goes on for me.

I would hate to tell you to force it though and make things worse.

If the barrel and guide assembly are in place and the lever isn't moving on you I'm not sure what the issue could be. I'm looking at mine right now and I'm not seeing anything that should obstruct.

The M4Carbine forums are a great place to ask questions about the M&P. If someone here can't help you I would recommend them over the M&P owners forum to be honest.

I likewise meet some resistance on newer ones as they get close to fully seated. I've had it hang up completely sometimes but giving it a little twist back and forth and it's good to go.
