    Default S&W 457

    Happy Holidays everyone.

I am getting a S&W 457 as a partial trade. This gun was purchased brand new by someone that wanted to give it to his son when he grown up, however the son is not into guns. It is brand new and apparently fired only one mag through. It comes with all the original packaging and accessories.

What do you guys think of this gun. I did some research and it seems to be a decent carry gun, however this is from the S&W forum so I am not sure the opinions are not biased.

Anyone owns one or had experience with one?
    Thanks

Well I guess it is not a popular gun since I can't get an opinion on it.
I would have thought that someone here had some experience with them.

The Gen 3 Smith autopistols were way way underrated , they came out at a bad time when Glock began to saturate the handgun market.

The 457 is a very good carry gun , you will not be disappointed in it.

Go into the archives at handgun magazine available on line and see what the gun writers had to say about it lots of info there also i believe Gun test magazine did an evaluation test on it see if you can find those articles, but yes its a good gun.

the only S&W pistol that i wouldn't buy would be a sigma. other than that S&W semiauto pistols and revolvers are fantastic guns. i'm not familiar with the 457 but if you can get it for a good price then i would say go for it. checkout gunbroker or gunsamerica and see what the 457 is going then you'll have some idea of what it's worth.

    Thanks guys.

I am not sure really what the value is but I am getting it, like I said almost brand new complete package with a brand new unfired glock 19 gen 4 with night sights, titanium recoil rod in exchange for a gun which I would have valued at $ 900 cash sale. I guess somewhere around $ 350 for the 457.

I checked gunsamerica and gunbroker and they go for about $ 400 in good conditions, this should be in excellent conditions.

I guess will see when I take it to the range and see if it is a good fit for me.

Op, if you decide to carry , DeSantis offers a few nice leather holster for the 457.

thank you. If it proves to be as good as you guys say it is, it will probably be one of the guns I carry. I dont mind a little weight as long as it is reliable.
