Couple Acronym Questions
Sorry if this is REAL basic, but I was just looking in the county info database and came acorss three acronyms I am not familiar with: "NR Permits", "NFA Friendly" and "SPFs". I assume that "NR Permits" is non-resident permits, but not sure what this means because as I understand it PA does not issue non-state resident permits. So does this mean non-county resident (but PA resident) permits - and if so, why would a county issue a permit to a non-resident? I have no guess at NFA "Friendly" and "SPFs"...
Thanks in advance.

Re: Couple Acronym Questions
You have to watch the context on some. In the Classified ads, SPF means "sold pending funds."

Re: Couple Acronym Questions
NFA (National Firearms Act) Friendly means that the sheriff in that county will sign the form needed to possess machine guns, short barrelled rifles/shotguns, suppressors/silencers and other weapons items that require a tax stamp.
PA sheriffs CAN issue non-resident LTCFs to residents of other states. If the other state has an equivalent document (gun permit or license), the out-of-state applicant must have that issued to them to apply for a PA LTCF. Some sheriffs will issue to non res, others will not, but they all are supposed to.
As far as PA residents, they MUST apply for a LTCF in the county in which they reside.
SPF...???
