Northampton License to Carry
How long are they taking these days? Just renewed mine yesterday. The current one expires on the 23rd of January. My last renewel went quick. My stepson and his friend applied for their initial licenses earlier this year and it took close to four months. Anybody renew lately? BTW, when did the price drop?

Not sure how long its taking. The past Sheriff seemed to move things along quickly. However, the new Sheriff is a retired City of Bethlehem Police Chief. Not sure where renewals and new issuances are on his priority list. Lots of luck.

Doesn't matter, your current license is good for several months (I'm thinking 6) after the expiration. If he took 4 months to process your buddies license then he broke the law. They have 45 days to issue or deny.

Didn't know that. Thanks. I know that they revamped their system and things were going slower for a little while until the "bugs" were worked out.. At least that was what they told my stepson at that time. And to be fair to them, my stepson is a 3rd, as in having the same name as his father( a jr.). The father has a past. It sometimes holds up some things in his life due to the same name.

See above. The kid wasn't squeeky clean, but neither was I when I was young. Nothing bad enough to stop License to Carry. Never took me long to get my license. Of course my past youthful discretions weren't serious(neither were his) and now I'm getting too old to be considered a serious threat to society.
On the up side, I do a lot of work in nuke plants and schools. I have so many background checks done on me that when I need one done, they usually fly right through. I don't think it will take long. Just curious.

A friend of mine in Northampton County recently applied for her LTCF and received it in about 2 weeks. As an fyi, my wife was listed as a reference and was never called.

Took us three weeks to get ours. They told us the 2011 one would be good for 60 days past the expiration date.

Re: Northampton License to Carry
By law it may be used for up to 6 months after the expiration date, as long as you are eligible for renewal.
18 Pa.C.S. § 6106: Firearms not to be carried without a license(b) Exceptions.
(12) A person who has a lawfully issued license to carry a firearm pursuant to section 6109 (relating to licenses) and that said license expired within six months prior to the date of arrest and that the individual is otherwise eligible for renewal of the license.I am not a lawyer.
