Cash for Illegal Guns?
Did anyone see this? I wonder what they are considering an illegal gun. If PA does not maintain a complete registry of firearms this could lead to legal guns being confiscated and destroyed.

Re: Cash for Illegal Guns?
Thats what I was wondering. I mean unless its on a mythical list of stolen guns and guns that were used in crimes, I dont see how they could classify a gun as "illegal"

Re: Cash for Illegal Guns?
I assume they mean guns that are reported lost/stolen, obliterated serial numbers, illegally modified to be full auto, possessed by a prohibited person, etc.

Re: Cash for Illegal Guns?
No such thing as an illegal gun. There can be guns used for illegal purposes, or guns bought/sold in violation of existing laws, or guns in posession of those not allowed to have them... etc etc.
I thought Harrisburg was broke, trying to declare bankruptcy. Shouldn't the mayor be saving her pennies to pay the cities debts?

Mine in Red
Again. I see no "illegal guns" only illegal actions by people.
By the news reporting "illegal/legal guns" or "properly registered", it puts out incorrect and IMHO VERY harmful misinformation to the public that there is a problem out there (or even a requirement) with firearms being "registered" or "legal".
Report the news.... report it CORRECTLY, or don't report it at allLast edited by BimmerJon; December 20th, 2011 at 11:59 AM.

Re: Cash for Illegal Guns?
nothing to see here, it's not like it's a bad return on investment from a city with financial troubles right? I mean I heard a radio spot the other day about violent crime has increased in the city of Harrisburg, call the police if you see something. Problem is, it was a Country Station, that does not have the largest demographic audience in the high crime areas. I give them some credit going after the 'snitches get stitches' silence, but they're ignoring the underlying problems, and attacking the issue in proven ineffective measures.

Re: Cash for Illegal Guns?
Yeah, I agree, I was just trying to translate it.
Then again, I'm not as much of a stickler on terminology here as most people are. I don't really care when people say clip, permit, accidental discharge, illegal gun, etc. But that's just me.
ETA: I will admit though, I DO get a little annoyed when people talk about guns being "registered," especially when it's on the news.Last edited by bac0nfat; December 20th, 2011 at 12:12 PM.

Re: Cash for Illegal Guns?
Assuming gun is stolen, doesn't the Commonwealth or the local PD have a responsibility to return it to the owner?
