Outer Barrel / Receiver Protection

I am a newbie to the PAFOA forums.

1st----A hello to all.

Being mature (actually, really old) I just bought my first Matte finish shootin' iron.

I just encountered my first YIKES ! ! ! On all of my past and current pieces I have used a VG grade of car wax (no abrasives) on the outside parts of my firearms. No wax on the moving parts. Two of my shooters go back 50 years. One owner me and they still look pretty darn good.

Since I am A fossil and gunsmiths are like Dinosaurs, I need help.

What do you peeeeples use on the outside of firearms with a Matte finish ???

Gun oil or 3-in-1 oil, whichever I find in the drawer first.

What he said for long term storage. I wipe them down with a silicone rag after getting home. If I'm going hunting in crappy weather, I'll wipe them down before going out too.

Weapon Shield - Made right here in PA, great stuff too.

Was a bit paranoid putting a fingerprint on the Matte .204 Ruger.

Never tooooo OLD to learn.
