Default How do you carry your .45?

Sorry if this issue has been addressed before but I am thinking about buying a .45 with one safety. I am left handed and I can have an ambi-safety installed for about $150.00. Is it necessary? Do you carry your .45 cocked and locked or without one in the chamber? The decision to buy depends on this. Thanks.

Cocked and locked, with one in the chamber. The only way to go. Always carried this way and never had a problem.

I don't carry .45 or a gun with an external safety.

That said, and I'm sure others responses will be similar: there isn't much point in carrying a gun that isn't loaded and ready to go. Cocked and locked is a perfectly safe method of carry, and as long as you're comfortable with one in the chamber, that's the way to go.

(If you're not comfortable with one in the chamber, take some time getting used to the concept, but try to work up to that point.)

Modern 1911's come with two safety's. I don't think you'll find a 1911 with only one Safety. Good luck on that search.

I only carry my 1911 cocked and locked with one in the chamber. There is no other way to carry the 1911. This particular handgun was designed to be carried cocked and locked.

A revolver is carried "Cocked & Locked" in that it fires double action.

All 1911's except the prototypes have 2 safeties.

The grip and the thumb. Three safeties if you count the one between your ears.

When I carry mine, its in condition 1 cocked and locked. It is perfectly safe in this form.

Cocked, locked with a round in the chamber. Something I haven't been able to bring myself to do with my Glock.....? My go to is 1911

Are you getting a 1911? like posted earlier its cocked and locked condition 1
I wouldn't get one without the ami saftey which most modern 1911s have rather than installing one just on the left side. You can also look at the M&P with a thumb safety if you want a striker fired pistol
