    Default IS IT LEGAL?

quick question, i like to take my ma duce out for a session every now and then but its getting to be a pain in the ass waiting for it to cool down before i break it down and put it away. my question is is it legal to leave it mounted on its tripod in the back of the truck (unloaded) and drive home with it?

Nothing in the PA Uniform Firearms Act regarding mounted guns.

As long as it's unloaded, it complies with the law on long guns in (or in this case - ON ) vehicles.

Sure, go ahead, I need the work.

You would more likely than not be charged for disorderly conduct, the favorite all-purpose statute used by law enforcement when you do something that they don't like that isn't actually illegal. Whether we could beat it in court is an open question, you'd likely lose if it was a summary offense and a local DJ heard it, it can also go to a misdemeanor and go to trial in Common Pleas court, where a real judge would opine.

At least stick a canvas cover on the thing, maybe something asbestos.

Hmmm. Disorderly Conduct? That would certainly be an oppressive stretch.

I don't see this as any different than having an unloaded rifle or shotgun in your PU truck rear window rack.

I could see a LEO trying to stretch the A4 part of Disorderly Conduct to fit.

a few years back a friend and myself went to a shoot in lancaster, we towed his gatling gun on a trailer from broomall to lancaster with no problems from the law. probably because it was an old civil war gun. but it was still a gun.
