Re: How fast can you shoot an AR 15
I'm not a speed shooter, but I am concerned with how fast I can get accurate shots on target. Just saying...

When you start melting plastic, that's the rifle telling you to take five...
Any mission, any conditions, any foe at any range.
Twice the mayhem, triple the force.
Ten times the action, total hardcore.

Re: How fast can you shoot an AR 15
Do ARs use different bolt carrier groups with full auto guns? Ive heard AKs that are auto use the polished bolts. I was under the impression that full auto ARs were basically the same other then the firing mechanism.

Re: How fast can you shoot an AR 15
SOME (not all) semi-auto ARs come with bolt carriers that have extra metal removed from the back of the slot where the hammer enters the carrier during firing. This is because, on a FA rifle, the back of the slot is cut to a precise length to trip the auto-sear. Therefore, some carriers are called FA and some are called SA. You can use a FA carrier in either FA or SA guns in PA and in most states. The FA carrier will be slightly heavier and therefore may make the rifle more reliable. But, with a good gun, it shouldn't make any difference. It's like another pebble on Mount Everest. If an AR jams, there's something wrong with it.

Not sure if all AR's are made equal. But I know when I first entered the Army (all the way back in 2000) I got my hands on some m16 a1's that the serial numbers were traced back to Vietnam with the original barrel still on them. Full auto, combat situations...you do the math.

It's not the most reliable device but when it does, it fires as fast as full auto. It is less painful ($$$) when you shoot .22s out of a Ruger 10/22 with a 50 round mag.

Re: How fast can you shoot an AR 15
Heat increases barrel wear in any barrel. You will definitely throat out the barrel faster by using rapid fire.
It is NOT just about the number of rounds.
But...since you bought an AR and not a bolt gun......shoot the heck out of it and rebarrel it when it begins to group outside of what you consider "accurate".
