Default Ambridge Club (ADSA) recruitment drive 12/10

Better late than never... if you've been looking for a sportsman club in the Beaver/South Butler/North Allegheny Co area the Ambridge club is having a membership drive tomorrow. The normal fees are $50 per year and a $25 initiation fee. On 12/10 they will be waiving the $25 fee. That's $50 for a family membership, which I find to be a pretty good deal.

    More info here: http://www.ambridgesportsmensclub.com/
    Newsletter here: http://www.ambridgesportsmensclub.com/Dec2011.pdf

If you are interested shoot me a PM. I'll sponsor your application and can walk you around the club. I should be there most of the day Saturday.

Debating.. I live about about 5 miles from there, if that. I have been looking for a close by indoor pistol range, but they seem to have restricted use (plus, I'm assuming leaded only?) I have been spoiled by going to A&S in Youngwood every now and then.

Restricted use is because we share the range with the Archery guys. But if no one is there most of the time you can use it. Yes it is lead only. But for 50 a year in membership it kinda can't be beat for this area.

They do have restricted use on the pistol ranges:

indoor = lead only and certain days/times
    outdoor = certain days/times/months

And the rifle range is limited to 6 rounds at a time.

Though for the fee I don't find that too objectionable. If you are looking for a gun loving 2A club this one isn't it in general though. Majority of the membership are cheap beer drinking occasional deer hunters. As a social club with shooting tacked on it is a nice club.

Something that's kept me from joining as well. Can't say I'm a fan of the bar, but like you said, for the price.. can't really beat it.

Will you be there after 4? I may stop up and bring a person or 2 with me who may also be interested.

Trust me the people that sit at the bar I would doubt that 25% of them ever fire more than 50 rounds a year. No worry about a beer and guns mix.

Planning on it. The adult Christmas party is 4-7 or something like that. I'll shoot you my cell in a PM when I get home so you can text me.

Can I ask what the reasoning behind this rule is?

I live in Economy and have been shooting at Beaver Valley for a long time, I've thought about Ambridge lately just because its closer.

Honestly though, I don't really want to download my AR mags before I go to the range.

You can ask, but getting an answer is a different story. I'm just a peon in the club, not privy to such decision making. ISTR something about the backstops being "all shot up" in one of the mneetings. Truth of the matter is, these guys have a rifle range for sighting in hunting rifles. They aren't real excited about EBRs.

Yeah, it pretty much sucked. Had all of my pmags topped off and had to unload them. But rules is rules.
