Noob Question
Just got a Ruger P95. Are there any issues with dry fireing it? With a new firearm in the house I want to teach the wifey to handle it safely and was planning on having her "play" with it cleared and empty prior to taking her out to the range.
I know with .22 rimfire you can really mess things up, but we used to dry fire the M9 all the time in training

Re: Noob Question

Re: Noob Question
According to Ruger, it's ok to dry-fire it as long as there is an empty magazine in place.

Re: Noob Question
Read the manual that comes with the gun, it WILL specify whether or not you can safely dry fire and what conditions must be present to do so.
I suspect Storm88000 is correct, as my SR9 manual says the same: safe if and only if you have an empty mag inserted.
Edit: "safe" = "will not harm the gun".

Re: Noob Question
Is there a magazine disconnect on it? If it does, that explains the empty magazine

Re: Noob Question
It does have a mag disconnect. I seemed to remember that was only an issue with rimfire. I think I will sit down with a good manual tonight and read up
Thanks for the info

Re: Noob Question
Snap-caps are your friend! if there is any doubt, just get some (they're cheap enough) and you can always mix a few in with a loaded mag at the range to practice misfires! and also see if you are flinching.
