Thinking about getting a Dan Wesson 1911 .45. Any opinions?
I have been thinking about buying either a Dan Wesson 1911 CCO or a Guardian (.45) and was wondering if anybody has any experience with either gun. I was looking at the S&W 1911SC E Series bit I saw a VBOB at a local gunshop and was impressed with the quality but want something a little lighter to carry. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

From all information that I've read or seen the Dan Wesson 1911 is a good buy even at $1400 for the Valor I don't know what the CBoB would cost. I don't know if the DWA 1911 has a match barrel all I know is that most that own them think they are a bargain for the price. Now I have been told that you can get a used Wilson or Les Baer for the same price or a new Dan Wesson.
The S&W SCE VBOB is a $1300+ gun it is extremely light for its size, lighter then a 3.5" barrel Kimber Ultra light. I have a S&W E series 5" they are put together really well and solid bargains in its self. I have 5 1911 from variety of brand names right all 5 shoot less then quarter size groups at 7 yards, if I do my part.
I'm still testing wring them out the Smith probably top of this bunch dollar for dollar and that includes a 70 series Colt commander.
I don't think you can make a bad move buying a DWA 1911.

I bought a CCO not long ago, and love it. It's the first 1911 that I found that provided all of the following:
100% out of the box reliability. No issues of any kind.
Lightweight and easy to carry.
Night sights.
Exceptional build quality. It's as much art as it is gun (IMO).
No need to tweak, fuss, adjust, replace or tune anything.
If your experience is anything like mine, you won't regret getting a DW.

BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

If you want a lighter version of the VBOB, get the Guardian Bobtail. It's an aluminum framed commander. You would be hard pressed to find a better 1911,even if you looked one class higher price wise. Dan Wesson is truly impressive.
There's no such thing as a free lunch.
