Default Any reason not to transfer an AK to a Philly resident?

I know that may be a dumb question, but my gun law Fu is weak these days. Any reason maybe you can't own one in Philly? Just curious before I do a transfer.

    Thanks.

    BB.

Is he a felon or mentally adjudicated?

If not, I don't see the problem.

If it's a legal rifle in the rest of PA, then it's legal in philly.

Don't forget the issue of Philadelphia juries, who like to hand out defendants' money like Democrats in an election year.

Selling to a Philadelphia resident is a bad idea if there's any sort of reason for misgivings. Don't sell a complex weapon to someone who strikes you as being stupid. Don't sell to someone who's unfamiliar with firearms.

The reason is that Philly juries will crucify you if the buyer causes harm. I'm familiar with a reported case (in the D&C Reporter for Philadelphia county) where the purchaser was a Philadelphia woman and the seller was an FFL out in the Montgomery county. She bought a brand-new autoloading pistol with box and instructions. She put it in her dresser drawer and apparently threw away the instructions. Sometime later, her idiot daughter and her daughter's even more idiotic male friend pulled the pistol from the drawer, the friend pulled the magazine out, claimed that he "knew all about guns", aimed it at a 3rd person, and pulled the trigger. Shot them with the chambered round that remained after the mag was removed. Guess he didn't know as much as he thought.

The shot person sued the boy, the mother, and the retailer. The Philadelphia jury found that the SELLER was liable for negligently selling the gun without adequate instructions to the woman, despite the fact that she wasn't even home when the underage boy thought he was unloading it, and the fact that every new gun comes with instructions (the buyer claimed there were no instructions). The jury awarded the injured person something like a few hundred thousand dollars from the FFL.

Everybody knows that Philadelphia juries will redistribute wealth without regard to actual liability, so it's an extra risk to knowingly involve yourself in Philadelphia business. I do it myself, there are some terrific businesses and people in Philadelphia (some of them right here on this site), but the "Philly factor" is real and should be considered.

Makes you want to add to the philosophy-People who sell guns don't kill people, guns don't kill people, but people kill people.

If only this jury of peers were actually peers.
