Smile New-ish to the area, Carry Questions

Hey there, Im new-ish to the area, I lived up here in 2008-2010 when I worked for Cabelas. I just moved back to Berks county from FL where I sold guns and did range safety.. The laws are much different here and I wanted to get a few things straight.. I was wondering, Since I have a Concealed carry permit from Florida, does that essentially allow me to carry "however I want " (not wherever) For example, can I open carry while walking down the street, hunting, driving in my vehicle? Can I conceal in while walking down the street, hunting, or driving in my vehicle? The police and the folk around town seem to be telling me two very different things. Thank You. Ya'll have a blessed day. Sarah.

In a word, yes, to all of that. Get your PA LTCF anyway. It's $20 and good for 5 years. The one thing you will want to watch out for is the Federal 1000' Gun Free School Zone. Your Florida permit will not allow you to possess a firearm there.

If you tell us the details about the inconsistent info you are getting, we can provide more specific answers. Also note the "reference library" link at the extreme upper right of your page. You will find relevant parts of the PA Uniform Firearms Act there.

Welcome to PAFOA, and back to PA.

While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Welcome back. It certainly doesn't hurt to have your LTCF. If you are stopped and have to present it for any reason, always nicer to have something from the state you live in rather then possibly getting a cop that doesn't know about reciprocity

Thank you for your replies, I will go and apply for a LTCF. If I go to the Reading office, Will they take my picture there or do I bring my own Passport photo? I tried calling but there was no response

thell take your photo right there, probably take less than 30 min to do it all. they just run a background check on you and your back out the door. there are other places in the county that do it depending on where your at you dont have to go into the reading court house anymore http://www.co.berks.pa.us/Dept/Sheri...nFirearms.aspx

I recommend the airport office for your LTCF , much easier for you to get to from Sinky than the Court House , less hassel too.

    Welcome back to PA.

Wow, only $20 in berks, I guess I know what my next stop is.

What is the 1000' federal school zone law? I live within 1000' of a school zone
