Re: Obama and the Gun Nuts
this is a common misconception. R and D are opposite sides of the SAME BAD PENNY. As long as people continue to buy into the same "Two Party System" lie, we get the same bad politicians who change parties like other people change cloths. THEY think nothing of it, what ever is best to get re-elected, and WE the people continue to act the battered spouse to their political misdeeds.

Re: Obama and the Gun Nuts
Though he had said nothing about gun control in the campaign,
And then, nothing. No legislation.
Even after the slaughter in Tucson in January of 2011, when six people were killed and 13 wounded, including Representative Gabrielle Giffords, in a madman’s spree, Obama did nothing to keep guns out of the hands of those at the margins of sanity.

Re: Obama and the Gun Nuts
I sure didn't mean to offend and I do appreciate those who posted factual replies. As to those who engaged in shrill name calling, I guess we'll not have an adult conversation here.
I'm no apologist for Obama and I am deeply disappointed in much that he had done and not done. I would have preferred another President these last four years, but I sure was not going to vote for McCain/Palin. Ms. Palin was not then and is not now qualified to be Vice President let alone President, in my opinion.
It is the nature of interest groups, even the NRA, to demonize those with opposing views as part of their fundraising efforts, and the NRA bigwigs are not poorly comensated! After living two years in the UK, where there are cameras watching everywhere and simply possessing a knife (any knife!) is a crime, I very much appreciate my Second Amendment rights.
This was my first post of a political nature in this forum. It may well be my last!

Re: Obama and the Gun Nuts or Are Trolls Again on the March?
Hmmm . . . Do we again smell troll in these woods?
Interestingly, the OP registered on this site in 2008 which by coincidence was the last national election year.
In recollection, that was about the same time that other firearms related Internet boards were being bombarded and in some cases crippled by troll wave attacks in a bandwidth frequency denial.
The old CULVER gun site, of which I was a loyal member and long time poster was essentially destroyed in 2008 by online auto spam postings. Recall warning members on that board that the heavy numbers of junk postings were not simply advertising for cheap Viagra pills or time shares in the swamps of Mississippi. Finally the entire Culver Jouster site crashed. They were able to rebuild with a more secure membership sign up system but it's not returned to anywhere near what it was before.
Could the original posting be a troll scout run as a vanguard for some renewed political phishing campaign? Maybe some "gun nut" real or contrived will make derogatory or inflammatory comments in response? The back and forth scream fests can be then offered as proof that people who favor private ownership of firearms are in fact . . . a bunch of "Gun Nuts".
Are the trolls again on the March?
Stay tuned!

Re: Obama and the Gun Nuts
Historically, Obama is rabidly anti-gun. His ascension to POTUS has not changed his outlook.
He has appointed 2 vehemently anti-gun judges to the Supreme Court.
He had nominated another radical anti-gun judge Goodwin Liu, but he was sucessfully filibustered.
The nomination of anti-gun Caitlin Halligan — formerly the solicitor general of New York – to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. U.S. Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid has scheduled a cloture vote on Halligan's nomination for December 6, 2011.
McConnell was nominated by President Obama on March 10, 2010 to fill a seat on the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island vacated by Ernest Torres. He is now seated.
He has been busy packing the Fed circuit with Anti-2A judges.
When gun control advocates Jim and Sarah Brady visited the White House, President Barack Obama reportedly told them that he was working on new gun control schemes “under the radar” with a diverse group of “stakeholders” and through a variety of avenues.
His AG is embroiled in Fast and Furious (a highly illegal attempt at building the case for more gun control).
Obama pushed for U.N. Arms Trade Treaty which would:
◦Enact tougher licensing requirements, making law-abiding citizens cut through even more bureaucratic red tape just to buy a firearm legally;
◦Confiscate and destroy all “unauthorized” civilian firearms. It’s not hard to guess what “unauthorized” will mean;
◦Ban the trade, sale and private ownership of ALL semi-automatic weapons . . . shotguns, rifles, pistols – all of them;
◦Create an international gun registry; as you know, registration is only the first step toward full-scale gun confiscation;
It's not demonization to point out FACTS about an individual's efforts to destroy the Second Amendment in this country. It is naivete to ignore this POTUS' actions in trying to destroy gun rights.
So really, we should be asking for an apology from you for voting for this SOB. You dont really mean to offend, right?Last edited by spacemanvic; December 5th, 2011 at 12:47 PM.

Re: Obama and the Gun Nuts
If I was an anti-gun zealot, I would be aggravated with O'Bama. He had control of the house and senate during his first two years in the white house and did not deliver for the sarah brady gang. There is slim chance that he will be successful in any anti-gun legislation even if he gets to serve a second term. The republicans contol the house and probably will take the senate in '12. Three senate seats taken from the dems. and republicans take over.
The serious issue is the supreme court as many have mentioned. A second term will greatly increase the chances of him replacing a supreme court justice with an accurate interpretation of the 2nd amendment with a judicial thug much like the two activists that he has already appointed. If such an unthinkable scenario comes to fruition, the McDonald case and the Heller case will be overturned at some point in time when the matter is revisited.
If O'Bama does get to return for a second term, I will blame the gun owners for the his victory. 75 million firearm owners in this country. 50 million of those vote for a second amendment candidate, O'Bama loses badly in '12, and would not have gotten into the white house in 08 to begin with.Last edited by c45man; December 5th, 2011 at 01:05 PM.

Re: Obama and the Gun Nuts
a vote for obama is a vote against america. People can claim ignorance the first time. I fail to see how anyone can honestly say they love this country and our freedoms and support him, especially anyone who values firearms ownership other than a six shooter or shotgun.
