Are there any public indoor ranges in Cumberland or Dauphin county?

Define "public".


There are quite a few membership clubs in the area that have an indoor range, but their "public access" consists of their members. For what amounts to the cost of a few boxes of ammo you can join a local club and gain access to good indoor facilities.

The only local "hourly rental" range open to the public that I know of is Freedom Armory in southern York County. That's not to say that's the only one in the area, but it's the only one I'm aware of.


If you're looking for an indoor range that's both open to the general public and for use at no cost . . . I know of no such place. And frankly if one did exist, I wouldn't want to spend any time there at all. Private clubs don't guarantee that the shooter next to you will be competent and safe, but at least the fellow cared enough about shooting that he was willing to apply for and pay a membership fee to have someplace safe, clean, and well-maintained to shoot. I've never felt less safe than on an unsupervised range that was wide open to the public and free.
