    Default 1911 modifications

Hello all. I live in delaware and was wondering if anyone can reccomend some afforadle good smiths in the area. There is a couple things I am thinking of doing.

I have a commander style ATI 1911 .45 acp. It has been picky about eating hollow points and I was told that polishing the feed ramp would help. It has mil spec sights and I was wondering if there was a way to put dot type sights on it like most guns have. I am not very good with tools and really did not want to do this myself. I was wondering if anyone knows any that can do this and what it might cost me.

    Thanks for the help.

Try EGW. They are very good but the wait can be extreme.

More extreme than you think: EGW does not do smith work anymore.

One person mentioned magazines. It came with one act ( i think) mag and it might be a defect, but that has caused jamming. I bought some generic mags at the sportsmansguide. They turned out to be pro-mag. I have not had a single malfunction with 200 rounds with fmj. I have had 1 jam with a 10 round mag though. Seems if you hit the back it goes foreward, but I dont really use the 10 round mags.

I can do whatever is needed to make it operate with H.P. ammo.
I can also put whatever sights you prefer on it- but, be advised I will not do the peen type tenon type sights as sooner or later, they will fly off.

I can cut a dovetail in the slide if your gun is not already equipped with one. Price on the reliability work will run around $40.00, if feeding is the only issue.

Sight replacement starts at $10.00 if you bring in the sights and goes up to a few hundred if you wanted night sights, bo-mar slide cut, Etc.

My turnaround is two weeks or less.
