Broken beretta mag baseplate. Glad i had a spare !
so i went to load my mag and this happens. the rails on the base plate just broke. the mag as only a few hundred rounds through it and its not been abused or beaten. i am a little mad that this could have happened as this is my carry mag. it was not modified and is a factory 92 ( 15 rounds) beretta mag. Any body else have this happen? it worries me a bit to be carrying a fautly mag, but i am just glad that i carry a spare.
And people think its silly to carry spare mags :P.
Any one else have similar problems with other mags or this type ? or did i happen to get a bad baseplate?

I haven't had it happen with any of my beretta mags yet. Could be you just got a bad baseplate, it's bound to happen with the number of them out there.

Never had it happen to any of the 24 Beretta factor 92 or 96 mags that I have.

Who made that Mag? Is it a MecGar Mag? I have never seen a MecGar mag broke like that before but it can happen especially on those plastic mag base, and yes only a fool would leave home without an extra mag.
Does the mag say MecGar on it?

PB CAL 9 PARA MADE IN U.S.A. on the mag, none on the baseplate. it was the mag that came with a 92fs that was made in the USA.

Re: Broken beretta mag baseplate. Glad i had a spare !
I found some 92 mags at a yard sale years ago. The base plates were cracked. I put on some plus two base caps. It took m a few years but I eventually bought a gun to fit the mags.

Re: Broken beretta mag baseplate. Glad i had a spare !
Probably badly machined or possibly mishandled during assembly. Not a common issue, so I would not worry too much about it. If it is new I would drop them an email and see about getting them replaced under warranty. I have had those cast aluminum style baseplate type mags in use for decades and not had that happen yet. I do have a lot of extra mags around just in case though!!

Re: Broken beretta mag baseplate. Glad i had a spare !
Never jerk around with magazines, magazines are the heart of a semi auto, if it doesnt work get rid of it. Buy the proper mags for the Gyun , Beretta must have went cheap when they went to the plastic trigger and plastic guide rods on the new 92's, but lets ask ourselves , is the plastic parts are great why is Beretta offering for sale those very parts in metal on their website?
The 92 were designed around Mecgar mags get ruid of the cheap american crap and get the part the gun were designed for
