looking for a Christmas present
i don,t have any experience in the ar type of pistols. the idea of getting one to complete my ar selection of long guns interests me. one that has caught my eye is the rra pds model with the plain frt. grip. any body familiar with these or any other variants. basically trying to find out what to look for and what to stay away from. yes i know the .223/5.56 round is not going to be efficient in this type of gun but it,s still gotta be fun. thanks, red dog

Re: looking for a Christmas present
Oh, it will be efficient. Maybe not as fast as a longer barrel, but it will still be fast. Off the top of my head, I believe the MV is around 2300 fps. The Kel Tec .223 pistol will print groups under two inches at 100 yds., just to give you an idea of how accurate one is. The BM carbon 15 with a fluted stainless barrel runs around $700. Don't know how much the RR is, but it is a decent set up, and if it is cheaper, then why not? The muzzle blast on these things are huge, and can be clearly seen in the daytime. You should really check around with all the AR makers before you buy, just to be sure you are getting a good deal.
You can build one of these things, as well, just in case you were interested in setting one up the way you want to. I know Noveski builds parts for this (7.5" barrel and so forth). Research is your best friend.Last edited by harold63; November 24th, 2011 at 06:32 PM.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

Re: looking for a Christmas present
thanks for the reply, what caught my eye on the rra pds model was the lack of a recoil spring tube sticking out the back. this is a gas piston version with the recoil spring above the barrel. the charging handle is also above the barrel. the overall look of this version is much cleaner as well as being shorter. still shopping and checking out all my options. red dog
