Left-handed 870 barrels?
A buddy of mine is a southpaw and bought himself a left-handed 12-gauge 870 last summer at a gun show. It has a 28" barrel if I recall correctly, but it spends more time as the home defense weapon than it does at the trap range. He picked up an 18" barrel for it but much to his chagrin he discovered that it wouldn't work with his left-handed receiver.
Who makes left-handed 870 barrels these days? He doesn't want to shorten his factory 28" barrel, but is open to hacking down a second barrel. I gave up trying to find an 18" left barrel a long time ago, I'm just wondering where one can obtain "A" left-handed 870 barrel of any length.
Suggestions? The few I've found have been outrageously expensive.

Re: Left-handed 870 barrels?
Wow, this is good stuff right here. They have a 19" LH barrel for $85, which is close enough. The only thing about it that causes me to pause is that it is listed as a 2.75" chamber. His 870 has a 3" magnum receiver, so as long as he has a 3" magnum receiver he can shoot 3" shells out of it even if the barrel says 2.75", right? The 2.75" is merely the designating the size of receiver on the shotgun that originally came with the barrel, right? I've never known a smooth bore shotgun barrel to have a "chamber" like a rifle or pistol barrel does, but I thought I'd ask first, just to be certain.

Re: Left-handed 870 barrels?
Every shotgun I've ever had or seen had a chamber, well except the front stuffers.
Remington has, or had 3" chamber barrels around 20" which had screw chokes. That 19" barrel at that site is a cut down barrel, for a few bucks more he can get the longer barrel with 3" chambers and borrow a hacksaw if the choke is of no importance.Last edited by knight0334; January 25th, 2008 at 01:17 AM.
