Bought a Glock 23 gen 4...
Here's the deal. I need some help. Hope this is the right place to post this.
I went to Cabelas in Hamburg on Tuesday and began the process of buying my first Firearm. A Glock 23. I waited very calm like, sat all nice in the chair for 45 minutes. Then I was told my background check needed "further Investigation". So out went my 21st birthday gift to myself. (yes it was my birthday exactly)
I was told anywhere up to 17 days till I get a phone call.
Anyone know how long this might take? Did this happen to you? When can I expect a phone call? Can I call to hurry the process? or pay? check in on it?
I took off work and everything to take it out to the range for my birthday, and this happened. Any help would be a life a saver. I am from the Lehigh county if that helps, and have NO bad background.
I just want my Glock asap. Its got my name on it.
while your at it.....What do you guys and galls think of this Glock 23???
THANKS.

The g23 is my daily carry tool, reliable and I barely clean it and it works every time without an issue...
As for cabelas, get your money back and go to another dealer...
I've never waited more then 5 mins for a check for firearm purchase

Re: Bought a Glock 23 gen 4...
First thing I would do is NOT purchase a firearm from Cabelas, unless it's used or something and you got a good deal. #1, their prices are a good $50-$100 higher than other shops, and #2 their process of purchasing is *excruciating* - they have this ridiculous system where an employee must escort you out of the building if you purchase a firearm, and if it's busy and no employees are currently available, you have to wait around. It took 2 hours to do a $28.00 transfer for a revolver I sold last month, we literally stood in line until the store was already closed.

Re: Bought a Glock 23 gen 4...
can I just not go back and ignore the phone calls and go somewhere else? Like I said, the background check is under further investigation by PA police I assume. If I went somewhere else tomorrow, I guess they would tell me the same thing..? I think

I also carry a G23 ( 3rd gen G23c ) as my daily carry piece, because its reliable, dependable, and lots of other words that end in " able " ( goes bang every time ). I have been to a few shops that have used that excuse, and in the end it always boiled down to them being unable to get thru on the insta-check at the time ( for whatever reason ). They don't tell you that because policy is to send it on to the sheriff and not tell you because they are trying to cut down on how long they have to spend on each transaction. Get your money back and go somewhere else. I'm sure there is a nice locally owned shop that would love to be your " go to " shop.

Yes, as DClan said, when/if you find out whats going on, I would try elsewhere, maybe American Sport in Brodheadsville or Tanners in Bucks county

Re: Bought a Glock 23 gen 4...
If I were to just go to my local "army navy" shop and go through their process.. Would there be an issue with my other background check still pending?..or so says cabelas anyway.
