    Default 80% AR Jig

A friend of mine bought an 80% lower and decided to avoid the hassle and buy a cheap stripped lower instead. He then gave me this 80% and I want to go ahead and finish it... does anyone have a jig I could borrow? pm or email thanks!

I don't have a jig *yet*, but I have been thinking about trying an 80% project, along with my own hard-anodizing.

These are 80% lowers from two big manufacturers. If we can get a few people together that want to do this, maybe we could have a drilling/milling party and split the cost of the jig.

I work in a machine shop-job shop/repair shop and I like making tooling for something like this! If someone had 1 or drawings for the fixture I could make it given some time. Never know when I will be busy or sitting round twidling my thumbs.....

Is there some sort of appeal to these 80% lowers other than not needing to go through an FFL, and no paper trail? How much experience does one need to complete it? Assuming they have access to a milling machine of course.

It only requires a tight drill press and a jig to complete. It's supposedly pretty easy. The only reason I haven't done it yet is because I can buy a stripped lower for $70 or less at many suppliers, and the cheapest 80% lower is going for $80. These things should be selling for $35-$40.

Do they have serial numbers? If not, do you guys add your own serial number or leave it blank?

There is also a tutorial linked to on the site. If you are handy with a drill press and can use calipers, then it doesn't seem THAT difficult.

Dunno if I'd have the patience to do it myself though.

As I understand, if it is being made for your own consumption, no serial # is necessary. DYODD, YMMV
