I have and would recommend the Glock. IMO, it is the best platform.

to dig deeper than opinion tho. . . .

    The XD sub .40:
    Capacity:9+1
    Length:6.25 inchs
    Height: 4.75 inchs
    Weight with empty mag: 26oz

    The Glock 26:
    Capacity:9+1
    Length: 6.29 inchs
    Height: 4.17 inchs
Weight with empty mag: 19.75 oz (Fully loaded it's only 26.98oz)

So right off the bat, the Glock wins hands down for CC. The two main factors of ease of carrying are weight and height.
However, in the end it comes down to what works for you. What one do you like better. You have looked at the specs, seen opinion, and shot the guns. Whatever your choice is, it's not wrong.

Wow, this thread was brought back from the grave yard. I kinda doubt that the op is still monitoring since they haven't posted since July of 08' To answer the question however, I handled both at the gunshop side by side last year when I was looking for a smaller summer time carry piece, and honestly, I liked them both. The deciding factor for me would have been that the XD would have fit my existing carry rig. That said, I wanted both, but ended up with neither. Oh well.

I like how it's always glock vs xd. How come no one ever tosses in the smith m&p series compacts. They run the same game as the glock and xd compacts and are also very good guns for the price. Honestly i love the feel and the way they shoot alot more than the glock and xd.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

I like both flip a coin. both reliable both good guns. When it comes down to stuff like this I normaly try to shoot both to A/B test them to see if maybe they feel different when they are being fired. or IF I cant do that I may go with which feels better in my hand for me the decision would be the XD cause the Glock feels like holding a Brick with a barrel strapped to it..thats why I got rid of my Glock 23 after 5 years of owning it..I just never got used to the poor grips...that said I also could shoot it VERY well and it never missed a beat..and that said I have fired a XD full size .40 which felt good in my hands and never missed a beat also....thats my buddies gun that shoots with me at the range sometimes we will trade guns off and on throughout the day and I never ever had a malfunction with his either nor he with my Glock...

    What now XD fan boys?!

You can also get the same conversion in an extended and ported barrel, or threaded!

As always, get what fits you best. If possible shoot both and decide.
You can do the same for the XD's

I currently have the glock and m&p..both the same size. I also used to have the Xd as well and will be getting one again. Here's my take. I like all 3 for different reasons. If I could only choose one, it would prob be eeny meeny miny moe. I say save up and buy them all. Help boost this economy.
I would rather die in a shootout than get assassinated in a "gun free zone"
