    Default Western Auto Model 99

Just purchased a Western Auto Model 99 - anyone familiar with it ? It seems to be a High Standard Model R101 or 103 22lr that was branded Western Auto Supply Co.. Any thoughts on value for one in very good condition, minimal handling marks ? Just curious if my deal was good or not. One of those "that looks like a neat little pistol" impulse purchases

The pistol is based on the R-102 aluminum framed sentinel series, private labeled to Sears and western auto (1957-1961) . Value in excellent condition as per the 2010 standard catalog of firearms is listed at 200, deduct 15 for early models without spring return ejector.

I'm not into revolvers, but that's awesome. Make you think of the days when you could grab a handgun at the hardware store while picking up a bag full of roofing nails.

I remember the Western auto stores. Havent seen one in years.
When I was a kid there was a little mom and pop shop at the top of the hill. I remember going in for food with my Father and always running over to look at the rifles on the racks. I was about 4 then. 36 years later and I am still addicted to guns!

That's amazing, I had a Western Auto Bicycle when I was a teen, but never a pistol.

My little Western Auto Supply Model 99 Revelation arrived at my ffl today - what a great little piece ! Even the included holster was much nicer than I thought it was going to be, and fits the revolver like a glove - doesn't say Western Auto on it ( that would have been too cool ) can't read the full name of the holster, it's a 4 letter word then "mark" and the model 18 050 ?
Wasn't sure if the pistol was all metal or aluminum as mentioned, but it is in fact aluminum frame. Only a couple of marks from holster wear - locks up nice and tight ! Can't wait to get her to the range! So far all the comments are the same " A Western Auto pistol, wholly crap, neat - didn't even know they sold them" - lol.

I think a Hardware store was where you bought your firearms in the 19th century. Not sure when that changed. I remember going into a Western Auto store in Utica NY when I was a preteen in the mid 60s, don't remember there being a firearms section, but then again my interests were else where at that stage of my life.
