399.99 for a wasr is a good deal. I think I remember some members on here getting them for less than that at Dunhams around "black friday"...
Make sure it is a double stack magazine if you want to use "regular" AK mags. I believe Dunhams sells single stack rifles as well. It does look like it has a fixed muzzle break. That is no big deal at all but you may be able to pick up a used WASR for around that price with a bayonet lug and removable muzzle break. If those things are important to you that is.
There are a few online videos on front sight cant that help one when looking at wasr's.
I love my wasr 10. Pulled the wood off it and refinished it. At first I thought it was picky about magazines but then it turned out I had fallen for a pile of POS mags at a gun show. The deal was to good to be true. The mags didnt work in other semi auto AKM's...

$400 is a good deal. I haven't seen Dunhams have them under $450 for a long time. As mentioned, look for canted front sights, etc. Also look for a chrome lined barrel. Word is that some of the newer builds don't have them. If the ones on the rack don't suit you, have them get every one of them out of the back room, until you find one that suits you. Don't expect good fit & finish, but the WASR is a good, dependable shooter. I pulled the wood off of mine & put a NATO length stock on it. That made a BIG difference.

Yeah, this is a good deal, esp. when you consider that you can inspect the rifle before you buy it. All the WASR's at Dunhams now are 10/63's,which means they have Romanian barrels and receivers. Hadn't heard that one about some bores not being chrome lined, best to check before you buy. Look at the muzzle, the barrel crown should have a chrome ring around it. The Dunhams WASR's all have welded on muzzle nuts instead of removeable muzzle breaks,no big deal as the barrel still has threads. Easy enough to grind the small weld off. Also the bayonet lugs are ground off,so if you're the type who needs a knife attached to your rifle this might be a deal-breaker.
Places like Wideners has 10/63's with removeable slant breaks, functional bayonet lugs, and come with 2 Romanian mags,a Romanian bayonet, sheath and frog, and web sling, all for $415. Plus shipping and FFL transfer fee,of course, which is sure to be more than sales tax at Dunhams.

Yes, and they will likely be on sale for... oh, I'll guess around $379 for Black Friday.

Go find a nice one and put it on layaway until Black Friday!
(Or not. I mean what's $20 in the grand scheme of things - a mag full of ammo?)

IIRC, they had Mosins for $69.00 or $79.00 a couple years ago.

'course they had Mosins for $79.00 2 weeks ago for that matter and $89.00 last week.

I'm thinking the age of the really cheap WASRs has long ended.

I've picked up WASRs at Dunhams on black Friday at 5am or 6am a few times now. Single stacks were around $320 I think? I can have the mag well dremeled out to fit a double stack mag better than a Century Arms job and a real muzzle break on it before lunch time that same day easily with lots of breaks for left over turkey snacking. Buy some $10 double stack mags from Apex and it's still cheaper than the double stack WASR for $380ish. I'll probably be going again this year to pick up a spare Mosin if they're $70-$80. They were on sale recently but I missed it.
