bad time philadelphia holmesburg fish and game open trap

yah i had a wonderful (sarcasm) first impression of holmesburg fish and game association in philadelphia. i just bought my first shotgun yesterday and i have never shot skeet... only trap before... today i decided to try the open trap at their club with my fiance and my brother in law to be. i asked about open skeet and he said " i don't feel like dealing with new people. it's not my job to show you how to do it" ... that soured my fiance from wanting to shoot. when it was our turn, the guy said go head... and i'm like "how many shots at each station?" "not my problem if you dont know. " at least one guy that was sitting around was nice enough to walk us through a round of skeet shooting, meanwhile the guy in charge of skeet was bitching about "us kids" (i'm a 26 year old homeowner. kids aren't homeowners) talking all kinds of shit about us the entire time we were shooting and my woman overheard all the crap he was talking. thank god that one guy walked us through our first round of skeet. it was a lot of fun. not really fond of the place if that same guy always runs the skeet.

anyone know of a better place to shoot trap/skeet? anyone want to shoot with me next weekend? anywhere but holmesburg.

Your address says Langhorne. Langhorne Rod and Gun Club has open trap on Thursday nights starting at 5 pm.

Look up DCFS on this forum and I think you will be interested. I am not a member but I hope to become one some time next year. I have read a lot of the threads on the club and think it will be the best fit for me. Soberbiker is a range master for table trap I believe and he seems to be a good one as far as I can tell from some of the comments I have read.

Me and the wife were up at DCFS today shooting pistols, nice people and nice club, pretty down to earth guys there, Dave from Delaware county Shooters supply was there.

i will check out both... i'm fb friends with soberbiker... i'll ask him when he s going next and i'll check out langhorne rod and gun. i make settlement on my house in bristol at the end of the month. i heard falls township gun club has open trap on monday nights. hope i run into one of yall there...

Thanks for the vote of confidence, HOWEVER, while I am a range OFFICER on the table trap range I am not a master, plus I've never shot skeet. In trap the birds go away from you, in skeet they cross in front of you, for the most part.

We do have a lot of fun on our range though and anyone of any level of experience is welcome.

As for joining "sometime next year" the membership period is Jan to Dec, you can get a pro-rated deal now for the remainder of this year and all of next year. But you will pay for a full year (Jan to Dec) the first few months after Jan.

Wow, just wow,

I was thinking of joining this club specifically to shoot trap and skeet.

They currently have the initiation fee waved.

I have never shot skeet before, nor have I shot actual trap, just knock around trap. This incident, I would have called and asked to speak with the club president. Holmesburg gets money from the Friends of the NRA to conduct some aspects of their shoots.

The fact that a member treated you so unkindly deserves the executive board to know.
