I called a Lawyer
After reading the "sticky" threads concerning CC I decided to contact a Lawyer. I searched Google for attorney listings in my area and picked one to call. I explained my situation, "I carry a gun for self defense and I would like to have a Lawyer that I can call if I ever have to use it". He told me that he also had a "permit". He asked me if I planned on using shooting someone? I told him I hoped that I never have to but would like to have someone I can call if I do. He wasn't aware of the new castle doctrine since he explained that I have to retreat if I am outside of my home and that I can't shoot someone if they only have a knife. I didn't want to argue with him so I thanked him for his time and hung up.
He will not get a call from me in the future. If anyone can recommend a Lawyer in the Lancaster area I would appreciate it.

Re: I called a Lawyer
Thankfully, my dealings with lawyers have been minimal to non-existent during my life.
However, I don't think you just call up a random lawyer and say "Hey buddy! My name is XX and I want you to be my lawyer!"
I think you have to meet with them, cut them a check for several thousands dollars and then you have a lawyer in "retainer".
I could be wrong, though, but that's how I understand it.==============
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!”
~Samuel Adams
"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it."
~Thomas Jefferson, 1791

Re: I called a Lawyer
There are certain lawyers specializing in firearm law.
Gunlawyer I am sure could recommend some one or look around for carry insurance.
Basically you tell the officers you would like to cooperate but you would need to speak with your attorney first. At least that is what I was schooled to do.

At $250 an hour, I cringe when I have to make a call.

Re: I called a Lawyer
Here is a list I keep handy, but I have only ever had experience with one. Some of these attorneys have done work for forum members in specific situations, and of course one of them posts to this forum regularly.
These guys are spread all over the state as I am giving you the entire list. Most of these lawyers are on the list because people here have recommended them, but I believe they are all on "The Shooter's Bar" web directory...

I have bolded the only one I can personally vouch for. The list...

While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Re: I called a Lawyer
I am assuming that you want to find someone that is in relative proximity to where you live, is this a correct assumption?
I was actually thinking about contacting a lawyer just to speak to one in case something every did happen now that I carry.

Re: I called a Lawyer
If you want to have one that you are sure you are comfortable with, call and make an appointment for a consultation. It'll cost you around $250 at least (consultation fees vary), but you'll have an hour to ask them questions.
Then you can keep their name handy in case you need them. If you want them at your beck and call, yes, you'll have to pay a hefty ongoing retainer, but that's not necessary. Simply knowing you have name(s) to call is reassuring. When you do call them, you'll already know from your consultation how much it's going to cost you (unless it's been so long that they've changed their rates )
Personally, I only need a list of qualified attorneys because the possibility is so remote that I can simply go down the list until I find one that is available. Yes, I know you might only get one phone call. That's what husbands are for!!
