Default Ed Brown Or Wilson Combat?

I heard that a Ed Browns 1911 is not 100% custom. In fact some of the parts they use are Wilson Combat parts. So if this is true?that means a Wilson Combat is a full custom and should be the better gun.Anyone have either one or can clear this up for me maybe suggest one or the other.I think in the end either gun is going to be super sweet!!!Thanks for any help.

There is nothing "custom" about a 1911, the design is 100 years old- all that can be done on a 1911 has been done, we cant re-invent the wheel . As far as the 1911 is concerned we are at the point of diminishing returns , just buy one - any one, it doesnt matter- heck build one yourself.

Points aside, if I had the coin to drop, it would be a Wilson. I'm by no means a 1911 guy (I've only fired one a couple times so...) but can appreciate them and one is near tops on "my list". I dont know, a WC just does it for me over an EB.

Another take, send one out to one of the custom shops instead of buying something new altogether. Cylinder & Slide comes to mind or Heirloom Precision >http://www.heirloomprecision.com/

I have an EB. It's my favorite 1911, and I have several 1911s. It was expensive, especially since I had some added customization done - mainly with the sights and the front strap checkering. Still, it fits my hand perfectly, balance is as good as it gets for me, and definitely shoots better than my abilities at this point.

I can't answer this from personal experience, but my friend who collects guns prefers the Wilson Combat.

456 - I don't agree with that if you can shoot really shoot a ED Brown, Les Baer, Wilson or STi can do 1" @ 25yards & 2" @ 50 yards. There are midway 1911s $1500-$1000 that can do 2"@ 25 yards these guns are able to clover leaf at 7 yards, there are some $900-$700 that can do the same. Then you have the $400-$350 jobs that can barely load FMJ and can do 2-3" at 7 yards, pending shooter.

But like a $1500 Golf putter in the hand of a novice its just another putter but in the hands of a Semi pro or Pro it's priceless. The same with the 1911 or any high performance pistol.
