Default Transferring a handgun...without being there?

    Hey guys,

Got an odd legalish question for you. My friend and I are looking to do a handgun transfer, but unfortunately, we're unable to meet face to face at an FFL in the next few weeks due to scheduling conflicts. The gun is mine, and he's buying.

Is there any way for us to do the transfer without both of us being present? Like I go to a willing FFL, drop off the gun and fill out my part of the transfer papers, and then my friend comes by a few hours later, completes the form, and takes the handgun home? In my head, it's almost like ordering a gun through the internet, but...the shipping is simply him and I driving to the FFL. :-P

I'd prefer to have the money now rather than in a few weeks (leaving for LA on Tuesday), and he'd prefer to have the gun ASAP. Any solutions?
Slaves don't own arms; free men do.

Looks good to me......I don't see anything wrong with doing that.

I agree, legally it should be fine. You'll just have to find an FFL willing to hold the gun for you, which shouldn't be a problem either.

Seems no different than if you had shipped it to the FFL after an internet sale.

I've done it, but some ffl's won't agree to do it this way! essentially this is the same as having a transfer done for a weapon you buy online or a trade that has to be shipped.

I have personally done a transfer by this method.

Like others have said though, not all FFL's will do it.
